Economical ways to travel to Manitoba
Now a lot of people will ask where Manitoba
is, Manitoba is a province at the longitudinal
center of Canada. It is one of the three prairie
provinces and Canada's fifth-most populous province with its
estimated 1.3 million people.
Manitoba can deliver the experiences you
can expect from the heart of Canada. Now lets look at places that you can visit
and experience the livelihood of those places within the beautiful Manitoba
1. The Forks
The Forks, located at the junction of the
Red and Assiniboine Rivers near Winnipeg's downtown core, is the place to for
all seasons. Amazing and beautiful market place with unique and stylish shops
and restaurants present within the preserved historical buildings of the past
telling us the great stories that each of them has in it. In winter, there is
an outdoor skating rink that is particularly popular with families. Also
located at the Forks are the Manitoba Children's Museum and the much
anticipated Canadian Museum of Human Rights.
2. Little Limestone Lake
Little Limestone Lake is a lake
located in Little Limestone Lake Provincial Park in
northern Manitoba, Canada, about 500 km (310 mi) north
of Winnipeg, and 65 km (40 mi) north of the town of Grand
Rapids, Manitoba. It is located in the 4,095-hectare (10,120-acre) Little
Limestone Lake Park Reserve.
Now what is about it that makes it famous
you ask, well the lake is considered to be the largest and most outstanding
example of a marl lake in the world. It is a turquoise body of water
that changes color as calcite in the water dissolves or precipitates depending
on temperature.
When the water is warm, calcite comes out
of the solution and forms microscopic crystals, which give the water its milky
white color.
The source of the calcite is underground
water, which flow into the lake in significant quantity due to this it is
classified as IUCN (World Conservation Union) protected area. It was
designated mainly for conservation of a specific natural feature of outstanding
or unique value.
3. Gimli Boardwalk Beach
Located 1
hour away from Winnipeg, the boardwalk shows
a beautiful scenery of paintings all along it on one side, and on the other
side you can see the harbor with all the boats docked in. The beautiful
paintings depicts the art and culture along with the history of this amazing
place.
4. Riding Mountain National Park
Riding Mountain National Park is
a national park in Manitoba, Canada. The park sits atop
the Manitoba Escarpment. Consisting of an area
2,969 km2 (1,146 sq mi)
You can visit this park in any time of the
year, this exotic park is filled with wild animals and recreation, with a
varied landscape of prairie, forest, and wonderfully clear lakes and streams.
The park overlook the surrounding prairies of gentle hills, meadows, and lakes.
The reflecting lakes in Riding Mountain
such as Clear Lake, Lake Katherine, and Deep Lake are
popular fishing spots. Near Lake Audy, a herd of buffalo roam freely
in a 552-hectare enclosure. There is a look-out from which the animals can be
observed in their natural environment. For ease of travelers, there are many
walking throughout the park.
5. Tulabi Falls
Tulabi Falls is located in Nopiming
Provincial Park and is called “Entrance to the Wilderness” by the Anishinabe
people. Tulabi Falls Campground offers 17 basic and 19 electrical campsites.
Balsam fir, jack pine and spruce trees surround the campground creating a
peaceful solitude unique to this location.
6. Hecla Island
Hecla Island is a paradise for those who
enjoy the outdoors, wildlife and bird watching.
The Island also includes an historic Icelandic Village, walking trails
through the Grassy Narrows Marsh, rugged limestone cliffs, beaches, a harbor,
one of Canada's best golf courses, and first class fishing
7. Pine Point Rapids
The Pine Point Rapids trail in the
Whiteshell is relatively short and easy trail with many beautiful sights. It’s
a top pick if you only have some time to spare in the park or just don’t want
to try a less tiring track, but still want to enjoy the outdoor natural beauty.
